How I'm Feeling Today

Life is not going how I planned it, but I'd rather it go the way God planned it. Only God knows what's the best way to travel and which road to lead me down. So I'll take life as it comes and enjoy the ride whether it's good or bad. The road does get bumpy, but sooner or later it will be smooth. Take it all in stride people. #Thestruggleisreal

Embrace Silence

When you embrace silence, you hear things that you wouldn't normally hear if you were participating in the daily chit chat with friends. To me, the most important thing about silence is you can hear God speaking to you. You gain knowledge from Him and the world around you. Listening is the most powerful thing to learn. You cannot learn if you do not listen and in order to listen, there must be silence. Silence helps in so many ways, especially when you're tired after a long day; all you want is silence. Silence heals and soothes the everyday pains of life. All your worries and stresses melt away. Think of how silent sleeping is, well except when someone is snoring.
Another thing silence is to me, is peace. Going a little off topic, but when you die/pass away you are at peace and you are silent. You no longer worry, stress, deal with hectic days, boredom, anger, jealousy, and sadness. When a love one passes on, the best thing to do is remember their life and be happy they're in peace. Now, when I look at silence I see it in a whole new light. I embrace it, instead of disliking it. I once use to resent being quiet and shy. but now I embrace it like a warm hug. When one aproaches me and asks, "Why are you so quiet?" I'll just simply say, "I'm listening, maybe you should give it a try."
See, there it goes again. Everytime I write while being silent, I learn more things about myself that I've never known. Wow! Silence is such an amazing learning tool. Who knew that one of the most important things in life was something so simple. I regret the day I considered being shy a curse. Being shy is more of a gift of you think about it. There's no trouble surrounding you and we're the nicest people  you could ever meet. Maybe people should learn more about it and embrace silence.

Defeated

Defeated

Being surrounded by the enemy feels confusing

Choking the life out of what’s left of me

I can’t turn right

I can’t turn left

I call out for God…

No answer

I’m so desperately trying to find my way out

Prayers of pleading on my knees

Someone come out and help me please

I feel defeated like a Lion’s prey

So soft is this voice

That no one can hear

So close is the Lion at my door

Tears are falling from my eyes

Prayers of pleading on my knees

Someone come out and help me please

My Opinion on the Special "dark girls"

Last night, while at my fiance's house I had a chance to view a Special that appeared on the OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) channel. It was called dark girls. I was definitely happy that someone decided to talk about this issue among Black people or people of color, because it's something that has plagued us for years. It's shocking seeing it in front of your eyes even though we see day after day. I feel as though we have not come that far since slavery, because it's still ingrained in our minds that we are not beautiful people. It's time that we come together and actually talk about the problems that we face and change things for the better. We are beautiful people.

Creamy Cajun chicken with Zataran's Yellow Rice

I made some cajun chicken with onions, peppers, and tomatoes with a heavy cream sauce. I used Zataran's yellow rice as well. My fiance got me hooked that rice and I have loved it ever since. If I remembered the recipe, I would post it. It was really good by the way.

Check the Nails!

Just did my nails the other day and I tried this nail polish called, Sinful Nails. I forgot what the color was called, but I really liked it and it stood out. I also got a nail art pen, but I don't remember the name of it. It was really cheap...like a dollar and some change. I think I need some serious practice though. lol

Blessed to be Alive

A YouTube video reminded me of the two times, where I came into contact with tractor trailer trucks...whatever you call them. But anyway, both times I could've died or been injured massively. All I got to say is, I am truly blessed to still be walking on this Earth today and to have never been in a hospital bed. Words cannot express how thankful I am to be alive today.

Something that was on my mind

If I am not remembered by my face, then let my words be the thing that I am remembered by. Faces come and go, but words shall always remain. They are upon the papers we read, the internet, our minds, and television. Words are the things we need for survival; for communication. They give us a feeling whether good or bad. Some use them for love, but the majority uses them for hate. I am clearly not ...the same as the vast majority and I didn't choose to be. I've always wanted in, but in the end I was not meant to be. I was meant for something else. Something far greater. I see people in a way...that most just do not see. They will never understand. So I leave my words in hope that someone will pick them up and use them. Use them and change the world one step at a time.

Listening to that inner voice

Listening To That Inner Voice

It was a cold day in the fall of 2004, and my grandma and I were getting out of the car to go into Food Lion. I was freezing my toes off in my sneakers and I hated the cold, just like I hate it now. We walked into the grocery store and as usual, I went to the magazine rack while my grandma shopped.

You see, I love to read and anytime something with words is around me I will read it. Even when I was in Kindergarten I loved books. Most of the time I would read, instead of playing at playtime in the classroom and I would drift off into an imaginary world. Somehow I learned to read remarkably fast and I have used it to my advantage, by learning and listening.

This particular day however, I didn’t expect anything to go wrong. I mean, what thirteen year old girl would? Anyway, I was just reading a magazine when a man in a big black, puffy coat came walking down the aisle. I didn’t pay much attention to him until he happened to whistle at me…and I know what you’re thinking; this man has got some nerve right? Yeah, I thought the same thing.

It was the same type of whistling a man did, when he found a woman attractive. The only problem was that I was thirteen, not thirty five! Has this man lost his mind? Or is he blind? I turned to look at this man once he was at the end of the aisle; close to where I stood. The man had brown skin, like that of a brown crayon and he had a long beard, but not touching his chest like Santa.

To me, he seemed as though he could be in his mid thirties. Anyway, the man went walking around the store again and as soon as he left, I felt like someone had lightly punched me in my stomach, but it didn’t hurt. As soon as I felt that light punch, I put the magazine down and I walked back to where my grandma was shopping. I told my grandma everything that had happened and she was clearly upset. The man in the big black, puffy coat walks past us and I let my grandma know that was him.

The man glanced at me for a second and then he continued walking. He slowed down once he came to the aisle that I was standing in before and looked, but he kept walking once he found out that I had really moved. After that, I never saw that man again. I have no idea what that man wanted, but I’m glad that I never got to find out.

The more I think about it, the more I believe an angel was with me that day. They told me exactly what I needed to do and I indeed acted on it. I think if your intuition or body tells you something, you should listen to it. You never know what could happen, if you don’t.

Let God Bring you Happiness

Everyday, I learn that being selfless is the best thing to do. It's hard and I find myself failing miserably at it, but I will continue to ask God for wisdom on this. Because in today's time people are becoming lovers of themselves and lovers of money. It ain't about that...you're letting that become like an idol to you. People are like, "I'm all about this paper or money." Well, that mess ain't going to get you into heaven. Sure it'll buy you nice things and allow you to live well, but it ain't everything. Learn to be happy whether you have $3 in your bank account or much more. Let God bring you happiness.
